There’s just something about California that makes you want to eat healthier and protect the planet, thus making the Santa Monica Farmers Market the perfect spot to hit up on a Sunday afternoon to make sure your week gets off to a great start.
Food Tribe recently took a field trip to meet up with our friends at the Santa Monica Farmers Market along with some of our partners to talk shop and take in all the local goodies to be found at the market as we prepare for our Radic(all) event (tickets still available!). Under each tent lies something unique from only the finest local farmers, brewers and food entrepreneurs Southern California has to offer.
The market takes place in four separate locations during the week on 3 different days. You can stop by downtown on Wednesdays or Saturdays between 8am-1pm, Saturdays at Virginia Ave. Park from 8am-1pm, or Sundays on Main Street from 8:30am-1:30pm. We had the pleasure of stopping by on Sunday and consumed everything from all-natural coffee to grape/raisin hybrids.
The city of Santa Monica oversees all operation and management of these four markets that host an estimated 900,000 shoppers every year. Altogether, they provide a year-round selection of unique fresh produce every week since 1981.
We had a tough time not breaking the bank account as we took in all they had to offer. Bring your appetite, because they have so much more than just fruits and vegetables. You can splurge on incredible French pastries, omelets, crepes, breakfast burritos, and so much more.
We had a chance to catch up with Jodi, Coordinator of the Santa Monica Farmers Market, to find out more about what goes into running the show and what sustainability means to them.

They operate four weekly Certified Farmers Markets Wednesdays 8:00 am - 1:00 pm on Arizona Ave between 4th and Ocean and on 2nd Street between Santa Monica Blvd and Wilshire Blvd Saturdays 8:00 am - 1:00 pm on Arizona Ave between 4th and 2nd Streets and in Virginia Avenue Park (Pico and Cloverfield) Sundays 8:30 am - 1:30 pm In Heritage Square 2640 Main Street
